GPT and metabolic syndrome: Individuals with NAFLD were elder, more likely to be metabolic syndrome, current drinker, and heavy smoking, and had higher levels of BMI, SBP, DBP, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-hip ratio, fasting plasma glucose FPG, postprandial 2-h plasma glucose, A1C, HOMA-IR, TG, TC, LDL-c, AST, ALT and GGT (all p values < 0.001), and had lower levels of HDL-c (p < 0.001) (Table 1).
