IFNA1 and neoplasm: Taken together with our observation that, in contrast to IFNG (Fig. 6b), none of the type I IFN genes associated with a longer OS is expressed at significant levels by TAMs, TATs or tumor cells (Additional file 3: Figure S9) it is conceivable that upregulation of the IFN target genes of signature B is due to activated IFNγ signaling.
