Although secretagogin is reduced in islets from GK diabetic rat23, high-fat fed mice24, and isolated islets exposed to high glucose25, we find that secretagogin mRNA (Fig. S2c,d; Table S2) or immunostaining (Fig. S2i) between donors with and without type 2 diabetes (T2D) was not different. The gene discussed is SCGN; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
