A different translocation involving immunoglobulin heavy chain gene on chromosome 14, which is commonly associated with lymphomas, especially mantle cell lymphoma, was identified in 24 cases of multiple myeloma, by standard cytogenetic analysis; in most of these cases t(11;14)(q13;q32) was part of a complex karyotype and strong cyclin D1 overexpression by immunohistochemical stain [23]. The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is plasma cell myeloma.
