IL17A and infection: In addition, the fact that IL-17A and interferon-γ featured prominently in nonstreptococcal Gram-positive infections (which included CNS), but not in CNS infections themselves, may argue for a particular role of both cytokines in response to Gram-positive bacteria other than streptococci and CNS (i.e., in infections by Staphylococcus aureus and/or coryneform bacteria).
