Actually, it was reported before that DAPK protein expression could still be detected at the presence of DNA methylation in non-small lung cancer (NSCLC), renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL) (Huang et al., 2014; Toyooka et al., 2003), supporting that more components need to be taken into account when interpreting DAPK DNA methylation data. Here, DAPK1 is linked to renal cell carcinoma.
