Therefore, based on all these, we hypothesized of abnormal expression of PRPF6 might contribute to development of lung cancer in the following way: the risk allele of PRPF6 was associated with elevated PRPF6 mRNA expression, then the oncogenic isoforms, such as the ZAK kinase, were generated as a result of abnormal splicing and activation in normal lung tissues, which finally resulted in lung carcinogenesis. Here, PRPF6 is linked to lung cancer.
