Since evidences show that protein overexpression could induce humoral responses in cancer patients [19] and Ezrin proteins were found to be upregulated in ESCC (including early-stage ESCC) in comparison to adjacent normal tissue in our previous study [17], it is plausible that Ezrin might induce autoantibody production in ESCC patients.
