The polymorphism, as inherent mechanisms of human diseases, has been used to explain the differences in incidence, clinical manifestations, and response to treatment of tumor patients, including prostate cancer.[28] Previous studies have shown that the IL-6 polymorphism (rs1800795) may predispose to prostate cancer and influence disease severity.[23,29] The rs1800795 polymorphism located in the promoter of the coding gene IL-6, has been reported to affect its gene transcription and thus change serum IL-6 levels. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and prostate cancer.
