Polymorphisms of APOA1 are associated with coronary artery disease (Helgadottir et al., 2016) and it is an interactor of the APOE, a well‐described genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's and cardiovascular diseases (Mahley, 2016) and the locus with the largest statistical support for an association with extreme longevity (Broer et al., 2015).
