Data regarding Sdc-1's influence on signaling pathways are limited; Sun et al. examined the inhibition of MEK mediated by an upregulation of Sdc-1 through docosahexaenoic acid in human breast cancer cells and in mouse mammary cells initiating apoptosis in these cells, and Lei et al. detected that Sdc-1 overexpression inhibits p38 MAPK pathway in a rat model of myocardial infarction [48, 49]. The gene discussed is MAP2K7; the disease is breast carcinoma.
