A similar pattern was observed when only male placentae were considered, with obesity resulting in significantly elevated levels of HIF1A, and exercise intervention resulting in a trend to Control levels (Controls, 1.1 ± 0.424; Obese, 3.93 ± 0.691; Obese-Ex, 1.633 ± 0.994 relative units; Control vs. Obese p = 0.013; Obese vs. Obese-Ex p = 0.107).
