Interestingly, ovarian cancer cells lacking TUSC3 seem able to alleviate the massive ER stress response through the PERK-mediated adaptive pathway [65], which is consistent with the finding that accumulated unfolded proteins in cancer cells induce the unfolded protein response (UPR), facilitating cancer cells to adapt to ER stress [66].
