WT1 exerts cancer-promoting activities in different types of cancers, and WT1 upregulation has been shown to correlate with poor prognosis in ovarian cancer patients.17, 18 Based on our analysis and these observations, we tested the role of WT1 in transcriptional upregulation of SHMT1. To this end, we knocked down WT1 using shRNAs in three ovarian cancer cell lines (PEO4, COV504 and COV413B) (Figure 3a). The gene discussed is SHMT1; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
