JQ1 preferentially impacts on myc transcription, causing cell-cycle arrest, and cellular senescence, as well as resulting in significant anti-tumor activity in mouse models of multiple myeloma, and xenograft models of Burkitt's lymphoma and acute myeloid leukemia, diseases in which the myc gene is amplified (Delmore et al., 2011; Mertz et al., 2011). Here, MYC is linked to plasma cell myeloma.
