In the present study, we observed a similar effect on prion disease pathogenesis in the absence of CXCR5-expressing conventional DC: prion accumulation was impeded in the Peyer's patches and spleens of orally exposed CXCR5ΔDC mice, and disease susceptibility was reduced, but a small number of mice eventually succumbed to clinical prion disease. This evidence concerns the gene CXCR5 and prion disease.
