ADIPOQ and depressive disorder: Stratifying according to sex, women had significantly higher BMI (31.7 versus 29.1, p = 0.011), HDL-cholesterol (44.7 versus 37.4, p < 0.001), adiponectin concentrations (16.7 versus 10.8, p < 0.001) and depression scores (14.8 versus 6.5, p < 0.001) as well as lower QOL in both physical (47.0 versus 51.8, p < 0.001) and mental (41.9 versus 49.4, p < 0.001) components than men, respectively.
