RT-qPCR analysis (S1 Fig) demonstrated that infection with both strains of T. cruzi resulted in increased expression of Ccl4 and Edn2 genes compared with control (p = 0.0014 and p = 0.0111, respectively), whereas Gzmd was down-regulated in both infected groups (p = 0.0047). The gene discussed is EDN2; the disease is infection.
