In addition to adipokines, several cytokines have been described in migraineurs: Tumor Necrosis Factor α (TNFα) and IL-6 are increased in ictally episodes of patients with migraine and TNFα is increased in cerebrospinal fluid of chronic daily headache sufferers [65]; furthermore, ADP and leptin have reciprocal relationships with several of these cytokines, suggesting a possible integration of multiple patterns implicated in migraine attacks pathogenesis.
