Germline heterozygous inactivating mutations or deletions in RPS19 and at least eight other RPGs cause Diamond‐Blackfan anemia (DBA), a disorder characterized by macrocytic anemia and cancer predisposition, and the founding member of a class of disorders known as ribosomopathies (Draptchinskaia et al, 1999; Gazda et al, 2006, 2008, 2012; Farrar et al, 2008; Narla & Ebert, 2010; Vlachos et al, 2012; Raiser et al, 2014). Here, RPS19 is linked to Diamond-Blackfan anemia.
