NCOA1 was identified to directly interact with vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene, which encodes a nuclear transcription-regulating factor that drives the synthesis of proteins involved in bone mineral homeostasis and cell cycle regulation [30], and the FokI polymorphism (rs2228570) of VDR has been involved in the increased susceptibility to development and progression in multiple myeloma in the ethnic Kashmiri population [31]. This evidence concerns the gene VDR and plasma cell myeloma.
