In addition, because sclGvHD demonstrates a gene expression pattern similar to the inflammatory subset of scleroderma (13, 14) and increased expression of extracellular matrix-associated pathways is evident in this inflammatory subset (13), we also examined the expressions of TGF-β, TIMP1, MMP-12, ADAM8, IL4RA, and CCL2 genes which have been previously shown to be upregulated in both murine sclGvHD and the inflammatory subset of SSc patients (13, 14, 21, 22). The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
