Generally, some constellations are very typical for a given form of encephalitis, e.g., the presence of new-onset psychosis in young women with ovarian teratomas indicating NMDAR encephalitis or the combination of amnesia, hyponatremia, and the pathognomonic FBDS (brief repetitive stereotyped movements predominantly affecting the arm and ipsilateral face) indicating LGI1 antibody encephalitis. Here, LGI1 is linked to encephalitis.
