Many SAMs, including neurexins, neuroligins, LRRTMs, and other leucine rich repeat containing proteins, contactins, CNTNAPs, and cadherins are now implicated in neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental diseases, such as autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and mental retardation [8, 20, 22, 24, 26, 109].
