MYC and Burkitt lymphoma: The link between EBV lytic cycle and eBL development is further strengthened by the following observations: i) increases in serum IgG antibodies to EBV lytic proteins preceded the development of eBL [34] and ii) the sap of the milk bush found more often at the homes of eBL patients in Malawi and known to contain the parent compound of the EBV lytic cycle activating agent phorbol myristic acid, induced c-Myc translocations characteristic of BL in cord blood B cells simultaneously exposed to EBV [35,36].
