Recently, the CLL phenotype lymphocyte count in peripheral blood has been related to higher progression to CLL/SLL [4], while the absolute B-cell count, unmutated immunoglobulin heavy-chain variable region (IGHV) status, presence of trisomy 12 or del17p13, and CD38 expression ≥30% are known to be independent prognostic factors of low 10-year treatment-free survival (TFS) [4, 7, 11–13]. The gene discussed is CD38; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
