AARS2 and Hereditary diffuse leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia: In the original description of AARS2-L, pathologic findings from a muscle biopsy were reported without description of brain histopathology.6 A right parietal lobe biopsy in AARS2-L case 3 in table 1 showed histopathologic findings consistent with ALSP with numerous axonal spheroids and pigmented glia and has been described in greater detail in the original report of the case.4CSF1R gene testing in this patient showed no pathogenic mutation, and mutations in the AARS2 gene were instead identified.
