PPARγ activators are commonly used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes showing certain abnormalities which are associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease such as increased glucose, insulin and triglyceride levels along with reduced levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and adiponectin levels [19], a hormone produced in white adipose tissue which has antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and vasodilator effects [20] and has been linked to cardiovascular diseases, insulin resistance states and obesity [21].
