Comparing T-cell-dependent immune responses to the EW diet between these models (induction of tolerance or enteropathy) revealed differences in IL-4-associated modulation of regulatory responses between them; the IL-4 level influenced the percentage of aiTregs in the MLNs; excessive IL-4 production inhibited the generation of aiTregs, leading to the development of T cell-dependent enteropathy. This evidence concerns the gene IL4 and Abnormal intestine morphology.
