Curcumin may suppress the invasion and metastasis of lung cancer cells by downregulating the expression of matrix metalloproteinases, which can be medicated by protein kinase Cα (PKCα) / NADPH oxidase-2 (Nox-2) / reactive oxygen species (ROS) / activating transcription factor-2 (ATF-2) [5] or glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) / membrane type 1-MMP (MT1-MMP) [6]. This evidence concerns the gene ATF2 and lung cancer.
