The mRNA expression of PEPCK and glucose-6-phosphatase and the interaction between forkhead transcription factor-O1 and promoters of gluconeogenic enzyme genes (PEPCK and glucose-6-phosphatase) was suppressed by ferulic acid indicating the improvement of insulin sensitivity and hepatic glycogenesis in high-fat diet and fructose-induced type-2 diabetic rats. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
