In agreement with the immunohistochemical findings from gastric and colorectal cancers, and RT-PCR data in lung cancer [15, 16, 18], we found that a lower expression of HRPT2 mRNA and its encoding protein in colorectal cancer than matched mucosa according to RT-PCR, Western blot and bioinformatical analysis, supporting the opinion that parafibromin functions as a tumor suppressor. The gene discussed is CDC73; the disease is neoplasm.
