Although recent studies in different cancer cell types suggest a role for TG2 in EMT as highlighted by a possible cross talk between TG2 and three critical pathways in EMT, e.g. Transforming Growth Factor β 1 (TGFβ1), Wnt, β-catenin and Nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B (NFκB) [16, 17], there still remain a number of conflicting reports on the importance of TG2 in cancer progression with respect to its pro and/or anti-cancer roles [18–22]. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is cancer.
