ADNP and orofacial cleft: This may be construed as a study limitation; however, it should be noted that the most common model for the study of odontogenesis, the mouse, possesses only one generation (monophyodont) and two classes of teeth.47 It should also be noted that odontogenesis disturbance in humans may result in opposite eruption timing (delayed/early) in the permanent versus deciduous dentitions as reported in patients with orofacial clefts.48 Thus, despite the differences in manner and timing, our results suggest that ADNP regulates teething in both mice and men.
