Mature 5p strand of miR-7 is down-regulated in cervical cancer versus normal tissue and its overexpression inhibits the Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) and X-Linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis (XIAP) oncoproteins formation inducing apoptosis, inhibiting proliferation, migration and invasion [22,23]. The gene discussed is XIAP; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
