STING1 and cancer: Defined innate immune mechanisms involving cancer immunotherapy include, but are not limited to antitumor immune responses elicited by recognition of tumor-derived antigens by Toll-like receptors (TLRs), as well as sensation of tumor-derived DNA by the stimulator of interferon gene (STING) and retinoic acid-inducible gene-I (RIG-I)-like Receptors (RLRs) [7,8,9].
