Elevated cytokine levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8), CXCL1, CCL2, and CXCL5 have been associated with increased growth and progression of breast, prostate, and ovarian cancer (Begley et al., 2008, Dong et al., 2013, Fader et al., 2010, Qian et al., 2011, Singh and Lokeshwar, 2009, Zhang et al., 2010). The gene discussed is CXCL8; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
