The incidence of Barrett’s esophagus is increasing steadily, coincident with a gradual decrease in H pylori infections and gastric cancer incidence.37, 38, 39 In addition, H pylori colonization also has been shown to protect against Barrett’s esophagus.37, 38, 39 Therefore, IL33 may promote cardiac pathology leading to Barrett’s esophagus, and H pylori may protect against Barrett’s esophagus by suppressing IL33/Th2 immunity.
