This glucose intolerance in male offspring from HFD-fed fathers was likely due their reduced insulin sensitivity, having a higher blood insulin concentration at 30 min during the GTT (p < 0.05, Figure 3E), a numerically higher insulin AUC during a GTT (Figure 3F) and reduced insulin tolerance during an ITT (p < 0.05, Figure 3C,D) compared with male offspring from CD-fed fathers.
