Given the significant interactions of posaconazole with cytochrome P450 enzymes and P-glycoprotein, the testing of new generation, broad-spectrum triazoles such as isavuconazole for prophylaxis purposes in AML patients is underway.15 We present the case of a patient with relapsed AML undergoing re-induction therapy that developed severe rhabdomyolysis shortly after initiation of posaconazole. Here, ABCB1 is linked to rhabdomyolysis.
