An additional difference in the phenotypes associated with gain-of-function mutations of the CaSR and Gα11 proteins is that Nuf mice — which have hypocalcemia in association with a germline Casr mutation, Leu723Gln — developed cataracts by 4–6 weeks of age (18), whereas Dsk7 mice do not have lens abnormalities. The gene discussed is GNA11; the disease is cataract.
