The pattern of correlations between obesity and the expression of miR-23a and miR23b that was observed in the present study resembles the pattern of correlations of serum testosterone, LH, and FSH concentrations with the expression of the miR-23a and miR23b, but the effects of obesity on the relationship with miR-23a/b expression in the women with PCOS was greater than the association of hormone changes with miR-23a/b expression. The gene discussed is BRD2; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
