ATF2 and neoplasm: Of note, SYT-SSX has been shown to act as a scaffold linking two master transcription regulators TLE1 (transducin like enhancer of split 1) and ATF2 (activating transcription factor 2) such that TLE1 acts as a repressor of ATF2 target genes regulating cell cycle, apoptosis, and more, demonstrating that the SYT-SSX/TLE1/ATF2 complex is important not only to oncogenic transformation but also tumor cell survival [19].
