Additionally, two important genes consistently found mutated or inactivated in pleural mesotheliomas are neurofibromin or merlin (NF2, with ∼ 45% incidence of aberration), a negative regulator of E3 ubiquitin ligase, and the Large Tumor Suppressor kinase 1/2 (LATS1/2, with ∼ 30% incidence of aberration), two components of the Hippo pathway [22, 83, 148]. This evidence concerns the gene NF2 and pleural mesothelioma.
