Overexpression of TUG1 induces apoptosis in glioma cells by activating apoptotic genes caspase-3 and -9-mediated intrinsic pathways and inhibiting anti-apoptotic gene Bcl2-mediated anti-apoptotic pathways, suggesting a tumor suppressor role for TUG1 in human glioma [59].
