We confirmed that rs6350 in the SLC6A3 gene was associated with the pathogenesis of AD (P = 0.012), and the association became more significant in the LOAD subgroup (P = 0.005); heterozygous carriers of the A allele have a nearly 3 times greater risk to develop LOAD compared to individuals who do not have an A allele. Here, SLC6A3 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
