While studies have demonstrated that Sema3A upregulates α2β1 integrin expression in breast tumor cells when plated on collagen [20], a future direction for this research would be to measure integrin expression levels on cells plated on different concentrations of ECM in order to fully understand the relationship between cell-substratum adhesion strength and cell migration and spreading in response to Sema3A. The gene discussed is SEMA3A; the disease is breast neoplasm.
