The expression of the autophagosome membrane-associated light chain 3-2 protein (LC3-2), in protein extracts from 0 to 4 d.p.p. ovaries was indicative of ongoing autophagy, while the relatively rapid decrease of the value of the ratio LC3-2/LC3-1 (the LC3 cytosolic form) from 0 to 3–4 d.p.p. suggested higher level of autophagy at the beginning of cyst breakdown (Figure 2c). The gene discussed is MAP1LC3A; the disease is cyst.
