In this light, recent findings regarding loss of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase 1 (FBP1) in triple negative breast cancer and renal cell carcinoma are of considerable interest24, 25, because FBP1 is involved in gluconeogenesis by means of reverse reaction catalysed by PFK-1. This evidence concerns the gene PFKM and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
