Previous studies have reported that tamoxifen increases or stabilizes bone density, and decreases fracture rate in postmenopausal patients; however, no persisting benefit in terms of BMD is reported after 2 years of tamoxifen consumption following aromatase inhibitors treatment such as latrozole in postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. The gene discussed is CYP19A1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
